    Effect of
Higher-Duties
        Allowance

If you have been in receipt of a higher-duties allowance for a period of 12 months or more, how does this allowance affect your superannuation contributions and benefits with the Police Superannuation Scheme?

Your member contributions to the Police Superannuation Scheme (the Scheme) are not affected by being in receipt of a higher-duties allowance for any period. Your member contributions to the Scheme are not based on a higher-duties allowance. Your member contributions are reviewed once a year, and are based on the superannuation salary applicable to the highest rank and increment you have actually attained in a permanent position within SAPOL.

The payment of a superannuation benefit, payable upon separation from SAPOL, will be affected by a higher-duties allowance ONLY if you have been receiving a higher duties-allowance for a period of 12 months or more and continuously up to and including your last day of service with SAPOL.
