"serving the protectors"
The Last Shift

Dear Andy

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of SA effective 15 December, 1999. I have accepted a position as assistant director of the National Investigations Unit of the Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business in Canberra.

To all the friends I have made during nearly 25 years with SAPOL, I wish you well.

Regards
Peter Bache

The Secretary

It is with regret that I must advise of my resignation from the Police Association due to leaving SAPOL to pursue other career opportunities.

I have enjoyed my last seven years as a member of SAPOL and wish all my colleagues and friends all the best with their chosen career paths.

My last day of service will be Thursday, February 3, 2000.

Scott Benton
Constable 8426/8
Communications

To whom it may concern

I hereby tender my resignation from the Police Association of South Australia effective February 14, 2000, being my last day of service with the police department. I wish to thank everyone I have worked with over the last 13 years.

Yours sincerely
Jane Parker

Port Adelaide Police Station

Dear Peter

I wish to advise of my resignation from SAPOL effective February 17, 2000, and hence PASA. I thank the association for all the support that it has given me over the past months, especially Sean Richter.

Regards
Simon Halman

Dear Peter

I hereby tender my resignation from the Police Association, effective February 23, 2000, as this will be my last day of service.

Well, I have finally made the decision to leave. I did not quite make it to 55 to retire, but it is time to go now after about 34 years in the job. I believe that my health is more important than the job.

There is another life out there, and boy I am going to enjoy it.

I say thank you to you, Peter, and the association for what has been done for the members since I have been in the job.

I also say thank you to all the members who I have worked with, firstly at Renmark, Port Wakefield, Karoonda and, finally, Mount Gambier.

I will cherish the memories. All the best to everyone.

Regards
Jeff Bartsch
Senior Constable 115/9
Mount Gambier Police

Dear Andy

I tender my resignation from the Police Association of South Australia effective February 25, 2000, due to my retirement from the South Australia Police Department.

I thank PASA for the professional support it has provided to members over my 36 years’ service with the police department. In addition I acknowledge the contribution of my work colleagues whom I have had the pleasure to work with and wish them well in their future careers. In particular I say thank you to those members I most recently teamed with in the former education wing and Human Resource Planning Branch - their efforts towards promoting professionalism within the police service was generally recognized only by those who worked close by. It was a pleasure to have been part of the team.

Yours sincerely
John R Casaretto

Dear Peter

Please accept my resignation from PASA following my resignation from SAPOL.

I can now be found in the offices of Barrossa Personnel - a recruitment and temp agency (as the director - not a job seeker).

When I reflect upon my 23 years of service I can’t help but think of the changes we have all gone through. All in all I know that the best of times are past for operational people (which is what I always was) for a range of reasons.

During my last couple of years of service I was fortunate to work on HR projects, in particular, selection, lateral transfer and tenure policies. I am proud to have written and proposed the genetic selection policy (combined NCO, Commissioned Officer & Public Sector Act policies) making a unified workforce another step closer. I am sure that there will be teething problems but SAPOL must move forward.

I wish everyone well and hope to keep in touch with the many good people I have worked with.

Best Regards
John Keep

Police Association of SA

I tender my resignation from the Police Association from this date owing to my retirement from SAPOL.

I recognize the dedicated work of those volunteers (and paid officers) in the association who try to make conditions better for all of us. I appreciated being a member many years ago when they provided legal assistance (successfully) in a matter which involved me.

I recommend all SAPOL members be Police Association members.

My expectations as the operations senior sergeant at Christies Beach and the expectations of the duties as directed by upper management at Christies Beach were quite different.

I have only been stationed at South Coast for a little over two years and I have a list of 11 names who have been my immediate boss in that time (one had two goes). The last name in fact has been filling in and has been here almost nine months. What does that do for morale? And, of course, each one wanted something different.

I’ve got those gripes out of the way. Overall, my 33 years have been very interesting and rewarding, particularly my 16 years in STAR Force, Division and now Group. This job has many good and dedicated people and I wish you all the best for the future.

I have taken up casual employment with Group 4 and have a small private business operating. Any other time left over will be spent dangling a line here and over at Coffin Bay where we have a very comfortable shack.

Regards
Noel Saxby
